Colonoscopy

How long after a colonoscopy until you felt normal? I think I'm having sedation.

Just trying to figure out how long I'll need to sort out someone to drive kids to school etc.
I'll be working from home that week.

I had conscious sedation, I felt normal by the time I went home, but I'm sure they tell you not to drive for 24 hours. I would have felt OK to drive (DH drove) but obviously wouldn't, as they know the sedative effects better than I do. Good luck.

It's 24 hours. Whilst you might well feel OK to drive the next morning I believe there are issues surrounding whether you'd be insured if you had an accident.

I had one and felt normal after 3 hours - but if you are not allowed to drive for 24 hours then make other arrangements - more for the insurance than anything

Ok thanks that's really useful.

Dreading it - going to ask for all the drugs possible!

Don't worry, I've had two and not felt a thing. First time I was more awake, I had piles banded at the same time and was unaware. The second time I was just in a lovely sleep but I was aware of them telling me to move to the side etc. You'll be fine!

@bigbumbum - I was dreading mine to the extent I hardly slept the night before & I am a bit of a wuss - but let me promise you the actual procedure , especially if you have a sedative , in my experience is absolutely painless. Drinking the horrid drinks beforehand is much worse

Good luck to you - I am sure you be fine 💐
