What virus is going?

Hi Everyone, my kids had some kind of virus over the weekend - both had low grade fever, husky voices, so much mucus but were generally in good form.
I've been a but achy but woke up this morning so sore! All on the left side like I've pulled every muscle on that side from my shoulder down into my hip.
Anyone else the same?

I've had something nasty for 3 days. Fever, headache, sore throat, cough, runny nose and generally can't get out of bed. It's awful

We’ve all had a similar bug. Nothing serious.

I’ve had an awful virus. Started last Wednesday. Kicked in fully Friday night. Extreme congestion, unusually for me went straight to my chest horrible burning chest barky cough, exhaustion and just feeling grim. My 1 year old now has it. Feeling a lot better tonight. Something nasty doing the rounds!

Similar here. Started with a bit of a cough last Monday, then woke up on Tuesday with aching joints and felt like I'd been hit by a bus! Lots of coughing and generally feeling pretty terrible. Turned a corner on Saturday and doing much better now but the mucus cough is lingering.

Lots of people around here seem to have similar, some have been ill for weeks 😞

The meme that goes round that says "tell a British person you have a cold at any time of year and they'll tell you there's one going round" always gives me a chuckle 😂 though there was no laughing being done last week when it hit me!

This has really got me down. Day 4 and I haven't been able to get out of bed or eat anything. Just sitting here hacking away with my lungs on fire, being too hot and too cold at the same time.

It's a nasty one alright @UnhappyAndYouKnowIt. I'm a bit better today, not as sore. More more congested though and headachy. From talking to people at work (zoom calls) every second person seems to have some variation, all saying not covid. If this tiredness would shift it would be great though.

I’ve got this - it’s completely wiped me out and everyone around me. My DM who’s always chipper has been unable to do much for 3 weeks. I’ve been ill for weeks and weeks despite all the normal supports of rest, vitamins etc etc. I think whatever it is is really intense. No one has tested positive for COVID and all tests are up to date.

robinsrace · 28/11/2024 15:29

@UnhappyAndYouKnowIt how are you getting on today? It was horrid when I had it last week, really got me down and sent me into a depression episode. I'm back to work this week which I'm thankful of and the cough is nearly gone but I still feel not-quite-right and pretty low mentally. Take care of yourself ❤️

@Val1985 everyone is saying not Covid so must be something else, or the tests aren't able to pick this variant up. I tested negative as did others I know who had it.

@Cloxs hope you're feeling better soon, it's definitely intense, whatever it is

Well, I got worse before I started to see improvement. Somewhere between Tuesday and Wednesday I added D&V to the mix, crazy fever, sweating, etc. After a while of not keeping fluids down and getting desperate I called 111. And of course vomiting + sweating + racing heart + painful chest = ambulance.

But it did help. They drove me to hospital in a T shirt with all the windows down to try to get the fever down. And they gave me fluids and IV antibiotics. So I feel much better now, even if I'm not back to full strength

Gosh, that sounds like such an ordeal. My partner had the exact same 11 days ago. D&V, extreme stomach pain to the point he was almost passing out, couldn't keep any fluids down. 111 also sent an ambulance who tested for appendicitis (negative) and told him he had to tough it out. Took 8 hours for the vomiting and extreme pain to stop for him but he improved over the next few days. It was awful, I've never seen him that ill.

Glad you got the help you needed but sounds like a rough experience. How are you feeling this week?

My partners aunt was in ICU last week for pneumonia and flu and we were really worried. They discharged her on Tuesday but when I called on Thursday she sounded terrible. I told her she must call 111 again as she's finished her antibiotics but was still really ill. 111 said to take paracetamol and go to bed. By Saturday she was struggling to breathe and taken by ambulance to A&E where she was still waiting for a bed as of 9pm yesterday and they won't discharge as her oxygen levels are low. Hoping they'll have found her a bed now but still waiting on an update. Sounds like the local hospital is swamped
