Could I have Chlamydia!?!?!?!

I mean I'm going to get myself down to the GP this week.... but wanted to run it by you lot.

Here's the deal. I had a mirena coil fitted years ago. 2 years after I had it fitted I started bleeding heavily after sex and also had bad lower abdominal cramps. I went to the nurse for a check up/smear etc and the coil fell out as she took the smear! So the bleeding was put down to the coil being lodged in my cervix.
She did swabs for chlamydia too and everything came back fine. A month later I had another coil fitted and everything was fine.

That was about 7 months ago now.

However recently I had another little bleed ( TMI ALERT )...well it was more like pinky/brown discharge, about 2 days after I'd had sex. I had thrush like symptoms too. I took canesten and it's fine now.

But...had another bit of that discharge yesterday (not after sex though!).

Does this sound like Chlamydia?????????

Help.

Couldn't be bothered changing my name for this.

Sorry Toothy no idea, whatever you do do not Google you will scare yourself to death.

Do you trust your partner ??

Suggest you go back to the doctors.

bethoo · 28/04/2008 20:55

personally does not sound like chlamydia, it sounds to me as though you are not agreeing with the coil.
but always worth a swab if worried.

Toothache · 28/04/2008 20:57

To LGJ...lol... googled!

But I don't think it matches up... I'm also worried that this coil has dislodged itself too.... maybe the mirena coil just isn't suited for me.

The added worry is that it won't have been working as a contraceptive if it's dislodged itself!!

My bf and I have split up... but yes I trust him. Maybe the original chlamydia test months ago was wrong.

stressed

Bethoo - SNAP! lol.

I'll definitely be going to get test done and the coil checked.

Certainly won't be having sex again anytime soon lol... so that won't be an issue now. just hope it isn't shutting the door after the horse is bolted...

I've ordered an online test coz I want to know asap and the nurse at my surgery usually has a 2 week waiting list! this will at least confirm or not.

Anyone had it???

I've had chlamidia, i found out when dp and i had std tests when we first got together. I had no symptoms and it was easily treated with anti biotics. Your symptoms don't sound right, it sounds more like you are sensitive to the coil. Better safe than sorry tho so test if you are unsure. I get tested every few months, poor dp had never been tested and only found out he had it when we got tested together, he had no symptoms either.

Toothache · 28/04/2008 21:48

thanks... think you may be right.

Out of curiousity (and blatant nosiness!) why do you get tested every few months?

Mainly because i went through a phase where i wasn't fussy about who i was with (something i look back on in shame and would never go back to but still...) and got into the habit of better safe than sorry (condoms don't protect against everything!) and although i've been with dp for nearly 2 years and stayed faithful i've just carried it on, i very much doubt dp would cheat on me but things happen and i wouldn't want to risk my health.

Toothache · 28/04/2008 22:00

Very sensible.... think I'll do the same from now on.

Sorry if TMI - but does the discharge smell offensive?

Toothache · 28/04/2008 22:03

No it doesn't .... it's weird.

I had chlaymdia in my early twenties, your symptoms don't sound like what I had but if you are worried just go to the Local Family Planning or to your GP. Hope all is okay.

Toothache · 28/04/2008 22:08

Ta.
Plus the "discharge" lasts a day then stops.
I've actually started bleeding like light AF bleeding tonight. With the mirena coil my periods are sporadic, light and start without warning!
Definitely pointing more toward the coil needing removed.... hmph.

Still going to get a healthcheck though!

Does sound like the coil to me but you are being sensible getting it checked.

Toothache · 03/05/2008 20:33

Hi folks.... got my appointment at the nurse this Friday.
Still got a really light AF and a bit of pinky/brown discharge.

Don't know why I felt the need to update you on that! LOL
