'shallow' breathing- panicking

Has anyone experienced this or know what it could be?
I frequently feel as if I cannot get enough air into my lungs - as though each breath I take in is too shallow. I then try to take a deep breath but I cant manage it, and yesterday got into a horrible claustrophic feeling/panic attack where I thought I would die from not getting any air.

Ive experienced this on and off over the years - but recently it seems to be worse. Its not necessarily stress related this time.

any ideas?
thankyou

bumping for you

Vannah

It sounds like an anxiety/panic attack.
The way to calm it is to either get a paper bag and blow into it, or else breath deeply and feel your stomach fill out count to 4 and then breath out.
I can't remember the exact instructions but will find the website I used and come back in a minute.
