Spotting

Hi everyone

I am wanting a bit of advice as I have been sick with worry these last few days. I had my period as normal which finished within 4-5 days. A day or two after my period finished I noticed some red/pink spotting when I wiped after going to the toilet which has been going on for the last 4 days now. I have been wearing a sanitary towel but nothing even on there at all. I only notice on some occasions the faintest bit of spotting when I wipe. I am up to date with all my smears last one being early 2023 and all been normal to date.

I went to see the nurse a day after I noticed the spotting but she didn’t examine me nor do a smear. She advised there has to be a pattern over the next two periods but couldn’t advise how long my spotting would last for. Advised it could be an array of things including the fact I am 43 and perimenopausal.

I cannot pinpoint where it is coming from but when I put tissue on opening of my vagina I noticed the faintest bit of blood.

I am sick to death with worry and my brain is taking me to the worse case scenario which is bad.

can someone please advise inc any doctors on here. I am gonig to go back on Monday to the doctors for another opinion.

sorry for gonig on.

thanks

If it can reassure you I have been having the same for 6 months or so, along with insane bloating. Gp took it seriously and I had a scan and everything is absolutely fine .

Also, when they sent me for a scan it was mainly because they suspected cysts or fibroids, which would be a lot more likely than the scenario I imagine you have in your head.

They reckon it's either due to the coil or perimenopause. I'm only 39 so at 43 it's also plausible.

I started bleeding in the week before my period literally the month I turned 40 every month for a year. Had cervix checked so not that . Now back on mini pill and it's stopped so it was clearly hormonal

Thank you both I really appreciate it. I’ve not had any bleeding now since Saturday which I feel reassured with but the duty doctor called yday and said for peace of mind to make appointment at the doctors tomorrow. She has advised I be seen this coming week as it clearly has been affecting me so hopefully I shall get some answers… think I will be examined and if necessary be referred.

Did any of you ever get to the bottom of this? I have the same symptoms. TV scan showed a small fibroid that did said is unlikely to cause any symptoms. Also been a colscopy and no problems there. I'm 41 and suspect it's hormonal, I've been offered the marina coil.

Hi all so I was just following up on the last thread I did. I went to the drs back end of last year had an array of blood tests done and also went for a trans vaginal scan all came back normal… suspected a change of hormones and mild cervical ectropian. Anyways my periods were a bit out of whack in December but then I went back to a normal 28 day cycle no issues etc

however I finished my last period Friday and then the same thing has happened. As you can imagine I’m thinking why has this happened again?! I can’t get a GP appointment today but would anyone advise to see how it goes the next few days and then evaluate? No blood on knickers just a little when I wipe and even then very faint I remember the dr saying last time it could be left over but f my last period.

again sick with worry so any advice appreciated!
