Bupa policy shot up

Looking for some advice!

I've had my Bupa renewal come in the post and my new policy is a huge 40% increase. I'm really shocked.

Has anyway experienced similar before and if so, we're you able to get it down at all?

I'm thinking of shopping around but I'm worried about cover for pre existing conditions.

I called them and they said they don't know what would cause the increase but it could be:

I've made a claim in the past year (taken me from 65% to 55% no claims discount - which doesn't explain the massive rise!?)

That I've gotten one year older (!?)
No big birthdays so can't imagine I've been pushed into another bracket

'Cost of living aka medical costs' - this one is a joke to be honest. Even so, passing this cost onto the customer in such an untenable way surely will mean loss of custom.

I want to prioritise my private health but the new quote is out of my comfort zone.

Thanks for any advice!

Medical inflation is in double figures this year. That impacts enormously.
