I have recently had this horrible virus going around, instant sore throat, sneezing runny nose and everlasting cough.

Called doctors after a couple of weeks and saw a practitioner at the surgery. He listened to my chest and said that concerning noises in left lung and sent me for 2 week x ray because of being an smoker.

Had the x ray a week ago and have awful anxiety waiting for the results, radiographer did say results wouldn't be ready for a couple of weeks and to give it 3 weeks before chasing GP.

If something was found how long did it take for anyone hear from GP?

They said it would be about 2 weeks but it was 3 weeks and I had to chase the GP up to see if they had any kind of result: I think that's pretty normal these days. They were just ruling out any other major problems while investigating a possible mitral (heart) valve problem - that's still ongoing.

Do you have the NHS app on your phone? You can look for any results on there (in fact, all consultations, medications etc) The GP surgery update your results onto the app as they come in. I had a spinal x-ray rather than a chest one and they told me 2 weeks. It was 2 weeks but they didn’t get back to me, I saw that the GP had seen the report from the hospital and had recorded ‘no further action needed’ so they never contacted me. Our surgery policy is that they don’t get in touch unless there is a problem.
I would wait another week then start looking at the app if you have it regularly. You can read the report from the hospital and any comments from the GP. Hopefully you will be ok, but I do sympathise, the waiting bit is awful.

If there is a problem you are usually fast tracked for a CT immediately at our hospital

Thanks for the replies, I tend to always think the worst so already have imagined the worst case scenario. Friends and colleagues have already said you would hear very quickly if something was wrong in their cases within a couple of days.

I do have the NHS app so will wait another week and check there, normal test results don't get relayed to us from our GP surgery.

First time I've had any serious tests like this and it's been a bit of a nail biter!
