(a bit grim) Anyone who has had a tooth extraction.......can you tell me about the recovery?

I know there was a thread but can't find it...

so I had my very broken tooth wrenched out on Friday. It's not hugely painful now but I'm concerned about it getting infected. I can see (TMI) some white stuff around the hole (on top of the clot which is supposed to form) and I don't know if this is new skin forming or food that has got stuck in it (or pus). I'm doing salt water rinses throughout the day but really want to avoid any infection as it was quite a nasty extraction and involved a bit of bone drilling/chipping.

So I'm wondering...if you've had this done, did you see the new skin/gum forming over the top or should I wipe that white stuff out?

I would ring the dentists and ask their advice........... I have had several extractions and always just carried on rinsing my mouth out... the dentist should be able to set your mind at rest.......

how long did it hurt for with you? They did tell me at the dentist but I wasn't listening (was just relieved to escape tbh). Mine's not too painful, a bit achey - the hurty bit is where they were mucking about with my jaw (but they told me to expect that).

the white stuff is part of the healing, try not to worry too much, mine took a couple of weeks before it started to look normal iykwim!
