is this croup?

my ds 21 months has had a cold the last few days then woke up just now with a cough that sounds like a dog barking is this croup??

My DS1's coughs have always gone through a dog-barking phase. It sounds quite scary, doesn't it, but the 'barking' in the morning was usually eased by the time he had been up and about for a while and had a warm drink. Warm orange juice always seems like a good soother.

My DS had croup when he was little-I always felt it was a noise like a sealion. It was very scary the first time, I thought he had swallowed something like a pen lid. A steamy atmosphere was the only thing that eased it. He grew out of it when he was about six but until then he had it every time he got a cold.

my DD had croup when she was 2.1/2 .
in the day she was fine happy no temp and coughing but not to bad, seemed to be far worse at night ,we used to run steamy baths and showers and strip off and close bathroom door to keep steam in ,as this would help to clear airways ,went on for a while though .she didnt seem to bothered though .

Yes sealion thats what it sounded like ,LOL, was very different that any other normal cough sound ...
