Urgent colonoscopy ????

Hi all anyone know how long the wait is for an urgent colonoscopy under the NHS?

My DH was given an urgent referral - 2 week path. He had it done 6 days after the referral. All was fine.

I had one after an issue was picked up on a routine CT scan for something else. I had a triage telephone appointment with a nurse in the consultant's team four days later and then the colonoscopy was just short of three weeks later. The two week pathway generally means two weeks until your first interaction with the consultant or their team. However, having been on it twice now, that first appointment was quicker both times.

I also had to pick up the bowel cleansing mix in person at the hospital and whilst there have a check through with a nurse.

It may be that yours is sooner depending on why it has been requested. I suspect that I wasn't prioritised by triage as immediately urgent as I had no symptoms and it isn't uncommon for colon issues to be picked up on a chest CT scan and they generally (obviously not always or they wouldn't still move quickly) don't turn out to be anything. Mine showed nothing apart from some tiny polyps that I was happy to have removed.

DH's was about a month I think. Was referred through A&E.

I had one in June, about 10 days after referral
