Iron levels

Blood test results are back and I am just scraping into the "normal" range. However, I do have classic textbook systems of iron deficiency anaemia (which is what prompted the blood tests in the first instance). I believe this stems from my short cycles and heavy flows.
Will I have any luck in requesting the GP takes another look and explores options such as iron tablets, or will this be fighting an uphill battle given that my results are "normal" (although only just)?
I don't want to be a burden on the health service, but I know that something isn't quite right and I do feel like my body needs a helping hand.

I'm anaemic but you can get iron over the counter cheaper than you can on prescription anyway!

Oh yes just ask for it...definitely. Or get over the counter as previous poster suggests.
