Extremely dull post I know - but is there anything I can do to shift this bloody cold which I've had now for 3 weeks!! I am stuffing myself with all the cold medicine possible - also means I'm only getting about 5 hours of sleep/night so am knackered!! On the upside I have no appetite so am losing loads of weight!! Thx x

Do you know it’s just a cold? Might be a different virus. I’m normally more hungry with a cold:

Have you been resting enough in the day? I’ve had a virus (I suspect Covid) that started very mildly, then I overdid it and I’m 2 and a half weeks in now and I got worse. Cancelled work and just resting in a hope to turn a corner.

Colds would normally shift in about 5 days so I would treat this as something more than a cold and rest up.

What a kind helpful message thank you - I think I will go and see my friendly pharmacist to see if they can recommend anything! Feel I have shares in the pharmacy companies! X

I’ve just had two “colds” back to back since 16 October and I’m sure the second one was as a direct result of pushing myself to do some work when I thought I was getting over the first one so I’d second the suggestion to rest and recover as much as you can. Sadly DP has just come down with something that looks to be a bit different (he’s got a fever where I lost my voice and coughed a lot) so I’m hoping I’m immune to his germs.

In practical terms, I used a lot of Vick on my throat and chest, used a steam inhaler a couple of times a day with menthol to help me breathe, Beconase to help clear my sinuses, drank hot water, honey, ginger and lime juice regularly, a measure of strong liqueur every night, and tried to include as much veg and spices as I could with what I was eating.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers
