Anyone know how long roughly a routine colonoscopy is ????

Hi DH was referred for a colonoscopy yesterday and they said they will do it urgent but just camled
uo to chase and been told it’s routine ! Any ideas of how long this usually is I forgot to ask as I had my hands full at the time and now there’s no answer

It will be entirely down to the unit and how many appointments they have available. There is no set timeframe for a routine procedure like there is for one under a 2WW referral. For example, at my local NHS trust, a routine endoscopy/colonoscopy is 6-8 weeks wait from referral.

13 months in our area, that was even with horrendous rectal bleeding every day.

My last one was booked for a month after I was referred. Really depends on where you are.

I’m in Birmingham x I tried calling still no answer …

yesterday we waited in a&e for 11 hours to be told it’s urgent and now routine I’m so annoyed
