I've had a weird affliction for as long as I can remember and when I've seen the GP about it before they don't seem bothered, but it has such a big impact on my life so wondered if anyone had ideas of what this is.
Every few months I suddenly get a really painful nose which feels like it's burning. This makes it feel itchy, makes my eyes water and causes frequent, intense sneezing. When it's bad it knocks me out completely and makes me feel incapable of doing anything. It's like being ill except I don't feel unwell.
The only thing I've found that helps is Beconase nasal spray. It usually takes a couple of doses and then I'm sorted out.
When I'm having a flare up if I have a nap it really helps for the first 10 minutes after waking up but then the symptoms come back.
What on earth is it? I've never been able to identify any triggers. Doesn't matter what the weather is, where I am, what I've eaten or done. It seems to be at random. The only thing I've seen that I thought it could be is non-allergic rhinitis but the symptoms don't seem to be as intense as what I experience. I can't go to work when I get it like this.
