Folate question

Hi

Is it possible for a bout of hypothyroidism to significantly reduce folate levels?

I'm really stumped as to why it's quite low - I went to gp about a month ago with coldness, fatigue and palpitations, tingling fingers and feet, but could only get a blood test yesterday. I'm on thyroxine and levels were out of wack for about 6 months as I started tamoxifen for breast cancer. Thyroid levels were finally fixed about 5 months ago but I had ongoing symptoms from time to time. Other bloods were good.( b12, ferritin, tsh etc.)

I always used to take b vit complex but stopped after my Bc diagnosis last year as I wasn't sure if they were ok with tamoxifen.

It's not deficient, but in the lower range, 5 something. It's been 17 or more in the past. My diet is absolutely jam packed with loads of folate foods now. It was the one thing I thought would be really good! So Im just wondering if I was much lower a few months ago when I was hypo, and I'm starting to regain levels again? the palpitations stopped about a week or 2 after I saw gp and I have started to feel a bit better.

Don't know whether to blame tamoxifen or low folate - I'm going to take some for a while and see how I feel; I was close to giving to tamoxifen due to fatigue so knowing it might be folate that may have been the issue would be helpful.
