Lower than normal heart function - worried about scan

Hello - hoping somebody out there might be able to put my mind at ease somewhat. Had an echocardiogram last week due to ongoing monitoring of the size of my aorta. Had a phone call from the consultant explaining that whilst the aorta appeared normal which is good, the scan showed my heart was functioning as lower than expected which was surprising to them as this is not something that has ever been an issue before and was not something that was being looked for on the scan.

They have asked me to have a blood test and and an MRI - I have had a terrible cold the past couple of weeks so that have been a reason for low heart function?

Waiting for a date for the MRI I'm wondered if anyone could help shed some light in the meantime. Trying not to get worked up and hoping it's nothing as to worry about - I feel like I'm going to tie myself up in knots over the next couple weeks!

Are they talking about heart failure? If so, yes an illness/virus can affect your heart, which is why you should never train if you’re ill.

@DustyLee123 thanks - no idea about heart failure, they haven't actually said.
