Any ideas why one side of of my gums is more red than the other?

I’m baffled - one side of my mouth as you can see from the photo is red and a bit swollen. No pain, no temperature, no swollen lymph nodes (and I know what all those feel like having had covid 2 weeks ago!). It’s in the gum/soft tissue but up above a wisdom tooth slightly poking through. I’m using salt water rinses etc and it’s not as swollen as it was last night. Any ideas? Sorry for the picture - it felt like it needed a picture as it’s a bit indescribable!

Disclaimer - I went for dinner on Friday and ate some very hard bread and did manage to burn my mouth on food too! But not sure it would cause that redness?
