Unless your GP thinks it's cancer, which it sounds like they don't, I'm afraid that is a fairly standard wait now. The wheels have come off the NHS. Your GP won't be able to get you seen quicker, they'll have a dozen other patients in the same situation as will all the other GPs. I'm not recommending this but this is exactly why people self-pay at private healthcare a lot more now.

He should also for a course of steroids to tide him over - his GP can prescribe this. Should control the symptoms until he sees gastro. Good luck.

I waited 26 weeks for my urgent Gastrointestinal outpatients appointment - even then it was a telephone appointment 🤷‍♀️

Op I’ve had crohns a few years now. I’ve mostly been lucky, in that I’ve not had a lot of bleeding when in flare and so have always managed things from home, until this last big flare when it became a bit of a blood bath. How often is he passing blood, and how much? It’s a real concern, and I’d suggest you call 111 for advice. Stress how often and how much blood there is. I was going every 5-30 minutes, not huge amounts of blood, but consistently there every time. I was advised to go to A&E when I called, and admitted after a ct scan confirmed crohns inflammation that needed intervention. I was ok to wait 8 weeks to see a specialist when my symptoms first started years ago, but I had no bleeding and could control things a little through diet. Your husbands situation is not the same as that at all.
