Heat Rash after 5 years?

This year, every sunny day, my DS 5 years gets covered in a horrible reddy purpley rash on his arms. (Only part exposed in a t-shirt). Just had call from his child minder to say he has come out in a rash and could I collect him. But it only happens when its hot, and only this year! Never had it before, can a heat rash just develop. It gets so bad that by the end of the day theres more rash than arm. Normal?

would it be where suncream has been applied?

No sun screan as yet...too early in the year (bad mum) He has never had sensitive skin though.

Is it itchy for him, or does it hurt at all? Or is he not bothered by it? If it doesn't bother him, if it's sunny with you today, would it be cruel to put him in shorts for a bit and see if it comes up on his legs? Obviously you wouldn't try that if it was upsetting him in any way. Just to see whether it is the sun that's causing it?

Like the shorts idea, will give it a go. But no, he doesnt even notice it. It will be gone by the morning.

i get this landj, it is sensitivity to sun, sunscreen helps stop it occurring, but doesn't totally stop it, just prolongs its appearance iykwim. it does itch me a bit, particularly when it first starts to appear and then when i'm in the bath cos it gets hot again, but doesnt really bother me.

go to the chemist and ask for stuff for prickly heat, whatever they give you it'll work wonders - i have asked for stuff in many a country cos i always forget it comes on, and every country has something different but equally effective!
