Bleeding after menopause. Anyone been through this?

I haven't had a period for over four years, I'm 53. Last year I had a very small amount of bleeding/spotting which I know shouldn't be ignored. I had a scan which found nothing to be concerned about so I moved on.

I've now had a few more spotting incidents, one with a small bit of flesh passing too.

I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow and will no doubt be referred for another scan. Has anyone had similar issues? Googling suggests there's a 10% chance it may be uterine cancer. If the scan shows nothing will I just be left to it or will they investigate further?

I'm struggling with low energy but who isn't at my age.

Are you on hrt at all? I had this and it was due to an imbalance between the gel/progesterone. They did do a hysteroscopy but all was ok. Had a Mirena coil fitted instead of taking the oral progesterone and have not had any further bleeds.

Yes I am on hrt at a low dose. I was thinking of increasing the dose as I have such low energy. I'll defo discuss this with the doctor, thanks.

I've been on oestrogen pessaries for over a decade are after this happened to me. No trouble since.

MorrisZapp · 04/11/2024 12:37

Do the pessaries just treat the bleeding or do they perk you up in general?

Thanks so much! I had a very reassuring appointment. Had an examination, a blood test and a scan referral. The doctor isn't worried but following protocol. I also have a phone appointment booked to discuss my hrt. This might be what is causing the bleeding.
