Does anyone know what this could be around my nose area? I've had it for a few weeks now.

It's so so sore, red and kinda looks like there are spots or blisters in the redness? It hurts the most right round my nostril area.

I've tried using sudocreme but no difference :(
Am going to try get a doctors appointment tomorrow

Looks like it might be perioral dermatitis. My DD had it. GP will prob give you steroid cream but derm advice is not to use steroids on it and just use anti-fungal treatment. Either way it needs treating as it won’t go away on its own.

Thank you for your help. What antifungal treatment did you use please?

I think this is a bacterial infection coming out of your nose - my sister had similar. You need to see GP

parababe · 04/11/2024 07:16

Go to a local pharmacy - They may well be able to give something over the counter once they have had a look at it. Might save the hassle of getting hold of your GP. You can get hydrocortisone and Daktacort (fungal) treatment without seeing a GP. Good Luck

No problem. It was Daktarin or possibly Daktacourt as pp said.
Just to add, I tried going to the pharmacy for help but they said it needed a GP to prescribe… but as I said this was for a child so could be worth seeing pharmacist first for advice.

This is definitely perioral dermatitis. It's a type of acne. I suffer from it on and off. If its persistent I ask for a prescription of lymecycline antibiotics.
Wash regularly with water to try to dry out.

Thank you! I sent some pictures into my doctor today. They finally sent me a link to do so.. just waiting for a telephone consultation to become available now.

I've been keeping make up off it completely, changed to using 'simple' skincare ? Or just water (rest of my face isn't loving me for it. I get clogged pores and oily skin!) and been using the eurax anti itch cooling gel the pharmacist recommended a couple times a day and I have to say it doesn't feel AS sore or red. But definitely still there :(

What causes a flare up for you?

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments!

In case anyone finds the threat helpful. So far I'm waiting for an appointment with my doctor still after sending in pictures and them also telling me I need same day assessment but no appointments.
I went to pharmacist who gave me eurax anti itch gel which has calmed it down a little and not as sore or red but definitely still there. Been using 'simple' brand skin care and just water and no make up. Pharmacist said I'd need a steroid cream which dr would have to prescribe. I do actually have steroid cream already but when I tried that on it prior it made it worse... :(

Hopefully doctor can discuss soon or it calms down more each day.

Each day I was wearing make up until 5 days ago and it would really sting so I probably myself made it worse by not keeping ir completely clean!

When I was looking into it for my DD, I read that using products containing SLS can be a problem. Our shampoos don’t contain SLS anyway, but I switched her to SLS-free toothpaste as well - sensodyne.

freddyfluffball · 06/11/2024 07:20

My daughter was using the simple face wash and she got this exact rash! Went away when she stopped.

Motnight · 06/11/2024 07:27

Agree it's probably PD. I got prescribed a steroid cream which didn't help. Ended up stripping my skin care routine right back to non perfumed, and used E45 lip balm which seemed to cure it.

blitzen · 06/11/2024 07:31

Another vote for perioral dermatitis. There's an excellent support group on fb if you search perioral dermatitis support group. The main points are to totally avoid any steroid cream and moisturiser, and use only sulphur soap and a sulphur mask. Zinc cream if you absolutely have to. But if you post on the group you will get lots of help. Good luck. It takes a while to clear up x

What causes a flare up for you?

I occasionally use steroid cream for eczema, steroid cream can cause/aggravate it.
Also sulphates and parabens in shampoo, beauty products.
Fluoride in toothpaste can occasionally set it off.
Don't let them palm you off with steroids! I had to teach my GP about this as they are clueless!
Good luck, I'm.sure you'll get it under control x

I’ve had perioral dermatitis on and off for years, had it relatively under control until recently (blaming the fact I have turned 40 😂). I have been using the 47 Skin serum for a week and it’s already started to improve it. I was tempted to buy the brand for a while after seeing their insta campaigns and then saw it in Boots. So far impressed and it doesn’t break the bank either.

LeaveALittleNote · 14/11/2024 23:34

Looks very similar to my PD. I’ve never worked out what causes it for me. It just comes and goes.

Drivingoverlemons · 14/11/2024 23:47

You could try a little Cicaplast Baume B5 by La Roche Posay and see if it helps. It helps me with most skin issues.

nozbottheblue · 14/11/2024 23:58

Well what did the doctor say?
