Hi, wondering if I could get opinions on what next?
To keep it brief as possible:
I am 51 and I’ve had Fibroids for years - possibly 8 to 10 years. Last year I had extended bleeding for 11 weeks at which point my Gynaecologist advised coil replacement though there was no guarantee of success as the opening of the uterus had widened due to Fibroids.
Had the coil replaced 7 months ago, after 4 weeks the bleeding was addressed. During the follow up appointment my Gynae said they were pleasantly surprised that the coil was holding its position. The Gynae said they wanted me to have a pelvic ultrasound 5mths later as a standard review but if I had any bleeding to go to my GP which I thought was a little odd but didn’t ask for any further detail.
The ultrasound is next week as it happens. Tonight I’ve had a ‘gush’ of blood having had no bleeding for 6mths. It’s not a flood as I’ve had extreme flooding previously.
So, questions:
- Is it safe to assume that this is just some regular bleeding with no action required?
- I’ll be having the ultrasound next week so I don’t need to make an appointment with my GP?
- Why would I need to go to a GP in first place?
I'm wondering if this means the coil isn’t holding position now so I’ll need to take a different course of action, hysterectomy perhaps.
Thanks
