Worried high ferritin and possible haemochromatosis ?

My blood test in July showed ferritin 340; yesterday it came back at 650, and my first transferrin saturation reading was 44%. (CRP was 1), so its unlikely due to inflamation. I don't have any auto-immune conditions. But the problem is the NHS lab in my area will reject any request for the gene test if the transferrin saturation is lower than 50%. My only symptoms are tiredness and heavy limbs no shortness of breathe.

Can you challenge that, see above suggests that adult women of Northern European ancestry get tested with tsat over 40%.

Do you fit those criteria?

Do you have any family members with haemochromatosis. DH was able to have the gene test without any symptoms on the basis of an older family member being diagnosed).
