Pro biotic tablets causing constipation?

Has anyone experienced this?

I started taking bio kult a couple of years ago and would take them daily but wondered at the time, after a while, if they were causing me constipation. I stopped taking them and it seemed better but put it to the back of my mind as just a coincidence because I was under the impression that pro biotics were good for constipation, not a cause of it

Then Im on anti biotics currently and am taking them again as advised by the GP and the pharmacist and yet again Im very constipated, so surely not a conicidence?

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me, or is it nothing to do with the pro biotics?

I used to take Optibac, but decided to stop and take probiotics from food and drinks. Supplements like Optibac or Biokult containing 'Saccharomyces Boulardii', usually helps diarrhea, travel bugs. Avoid such strain, taking too much can cause constipation. Have you check what ingredients, live bacterias in your BioKult? Take care.x

Any time I have taken pro biotics (usually after reading an article about how my gut is the centre of the universe) I end up thinking I feel better without them and quit. They have never made me constipated but there seemed to be an increase in toxic gases 😔

I tried Bio-kult last year but it gave me a stomach ache. Tried on and off a few times and every time I'd have a stomach ache within a few hours, so I gave up.

Try a different probiotic? Or build your own gut health by eating fermented foods such as kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut etc and a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. That won't cause constipation!

Im only taking them at the moment because Im on anti biotics, I dont take them now as a rule, I started off taking them because like others have said, people going on about gut health all the time... but perhaps theres nothing wrong with it in the first place

People who takes antibiotics, have to take pro biotics just to keep their gut healthy. You can find them in food. Add more fibre foods to help you go to the toilet, if you feel bloated and not going to the toilet regularly. Start slowly, so your body get used to the extra fibre. x

Well Ive been off them for 2 days now and the difference is stark. They really do cause me to be constipated so I wont take them again unless on anti biotics.

I get plenty of fibre in my diet so that isnt an issue for me
