Still unwell after 9 weeks - back to GP?

Long story short i had a really terrible cold 9 weeks ago (negative covid test from various sources everyday for 2 weeks - ended up on antibiotics as turned into chest and sinus infection..went back they gave me more antibiotics this time for an ear infection. Now i am still ill. My chest is so tight, i am so out of breath and coughing, i am so tired, proper exhausted. i have been cracking on with working, kids, evening job as i cannot conceive i am still ill with this thing. I went back to the gym - in a gentle pilates class, the teacher came over and asked me to stop as i was Grey. Recent photos of me someone popped on social media and a friend called me and said i look grey and tired. Shall i go back to the GP? and say what - they always ask what you want them to do and i dont know. i want to be able to walk up the hill to my house (i live on a hill) without thinking i might collapse. prior to this i would have walked super fast up the hill, now i am praying for the dog to sniff so i can find the breath to make it without going dizzy. Ideas anyone? Thank you x
(NB. i was a v.fit and healthy 49 YO on HRT before this cold)

ButtercupBeans · 28/10/2024 07:33

Yes. Go back to your GP.

Notmanyleftnow · 28/10/2024 07:35

Ask them why are you still so ill, and what you can do to get better.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 28/10/2024 07:37

Yes, back to GP

teatoast8 · 28/10/2024 07:38

Yes definitely go back

Mindymomo · 28/10/2024 07:39

I think it’s time you had an X-ray just to see what’s going on and rule out anything more serious.

Piecelilies · 28/10/2024 09:08

defo back. would expect a chest x-ray and some basic blood work to start with.

Nogodsnomasters · 28/10/2024 11:18

I would be asking for a chest x ray and blood test to check for infection markers

Keepingongoing · 28/10/2024 16:31

Yes definitely go back to the GP. I would highlight how fast you could walk up the hill before all this, mention getting out of breath and say how you’re getting feedback from others that you look grey.

This sounds like myself. Exactly the check infection and sinusitis, been on 3 lots of antiobiotics and now pulled a muscle in my chest from coughing. I've been back to GP today and they have sent me for a chest X-ray.

shewolfmum · 28/10/2024 23:00

I can find this...I have just turned a corner after about 7 weeks. Feels awful, totally awful. I knew they would send me for chest x ray so kept holding off going back to go and am now only coughing about once a day. Still post nasal drip and get tired but feel more me. I sat and cried I felt so shit many a day.....

i called the GP and they called back with a blood test appointment for 3 weeks time so maybe that will show something..

Yes go back and ask to be checked properly for pneumonia. I know a few people who have it currently.

LostittoBostik · 29/10/2024 07:21

Honestly if you're feeling this bad I wouldn't wait three weeks. I'd call 111 and ask for an emergency follow up appointment somewhere.

Go back for a clinical assessment then depending on that: further assessment or at least
Bloods and CXR

No call for an emergency appointment today if you feel breathless
