MRI results…..does this mean anything?

I had a spine MRI about two weeks ago and have been very anxiously waiting for the results as I have a lot of neurological conditions and have started with some scary symptoms recently.

I emailed the consultants secretary on Monday asking if the results were back and she’s emailed back saying they’re now up on the system and have been passed to the consultant to look at and advise. She also said she’s requested a follow up appointment in the meantime as there’s a waiting list at the moment.

I know I’m probably being silly, but does this mean anything?

I’d say that seems quite normal?

It means she's not allowed to give the results over the phone. She will get the consultant to have a look at the MRI and then the consultant will decide if you need an urgent or routine appointment. They will then let you know. Do absolutely nothing to worry about at this stage as that is standard practice. Of course, if the scan has something concerning on it then they will get you in to discuss but at this stage it all sounds like normal procedure xx

Nothing to worry about. She's doing you a favour in a way, putting you on the list for an appointment now for IF anything shows up rather than you having to wait longer. The secretary does not know the results, she's said they are waiting to be looked at by consultant.

Hope everything is OK for you.

I would not expect a secretary to give any results over the phone. She's not a doctor.

She has confirmed that the MRI was successful and that they results have come back promptly.

She is efficiently helping you keep in the system. Appointments book up quickly and she's keeping you in the queue. It's easy to cancel an unnecessary appointment but hard to create one on demand.

Thank you everyone. I absolutely needed people to give me some logic as I’m struggling to think logically at the moment.

Thank you for your replies.
