Does anyone know what happened to my hand?

Hello!

Just thought I'd jump on here as I have literally done nothing to my hand? So strange, but it's sooo painful, in the picture I don't know if you can see there's a sort of lump with a bruise that's appeared?

I will go doctors if doesn't get better! Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else, not sure if I have strained my hand somehow. I have a 1 year old I pick up alot who is very heavy!

I wonder if you’ve busted a small blood vessel in your hand? This often happens in my fingers, and when it happens it looks bruised and it’s really painful.

Yep. There’s a name for it- spontaneous bursting of the blood vessels in the hand. Supposed to be really rare, but actually I think it’s common but women don’t bother the GP with it.

I had it for a few years, but it seems to have stopped happening now. Say, aged 40-50. I’ll come back when I remember the name.

@SensibleSigma yes! I just googled it definitely is this, thank you. It happened on my finger once too! So strange isn't it, and very painful! Just appeared this morning!
