Anyone with this awful virus but testing negative?

Had it for a week, started with sneezing, woke up with tight, heavy chest, sore throat, headache, eye and ear ache, no energy, nausea etc. I spent the evening and next day in bed, then woke up with a cough and just breathlessness, losing voice and coughing up mucus. Following day felt better, but still tired, breathless, still coughing but less mucus, upset tummy bad, wind and agin nausea, headache. It's the virus that keeps on giving and when I feel slightly better, I then feel worse again. Two tests and it's negative.

yes me! week 6 of it. exhausted, breathless, coughing still have pain in my ear/sinuses. Wondering if this is life now. Cant go back to GP as the antibiotics did nothing so its viral and just sticking around. Hope you feel better soon x

Yes, in week 3 now. Fed up.

Cantalever · 20/10/2024 15:51

Yes, all of that except nausea, for 5 weeks now, and feeling wiped out. Covid test early on was negative (though test was a bit out of date - don't know if that makes a difference).

Stop testing, it's pointless. Whatever you've got, you just have to wait for it to pass. Over the counter remedies will help with symptoms. Happens to everyone, pretty much every year, tbh.

I only tested because work colleagues are anxious about COVID and didn't know whether I should go back to work, as felt a bit better but not 100%. I seem to be floored by these viruses at least 3 times a year now, never suffered so badly.

Yes, I have had this, too, and wondered what it was as it felt different to any previous virus I have had. I am nearly week 6 now and have had an ongoing chest infection and just struggling feeling unwell with symptoms keep coming back. I wondered if it could be that RSV (respiratory virus) that it dangerous for babies and elderly, but I have no medical knowledge.

Did you have the sore throat and sneezing aspect keep coming back? I thought i was recovering having had a chest infection from it after two weeks only to start again from square one with the sore throat, sinuses, sneezing, congestion and further chest issues.

I tested negative for 2.5 weeks. (Test due to working with vulnerable people) Eventually got a positive after I bought a new batch of tests. On week 4 after testing positive and just down to cold symptoms and bad tummy. The tiredness has not improved though. I'm so fed up of it!

Yes, it did come back. I went back to work but started to feel like crap again, sneezing, sore throat and nausea. It's definitely shifting, but very tired, breathless, nausea and headache. Also tickly cough now and then.
