Wheezing on exhale?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on what could be making me wheeze when I exhale?
I have seen my GP three times in the past few months. They keep telling me I have a viral infection but I'm starting to wonder if there's more to this.

I have been feeling run down and tired for a few months, struggling to catch my breath and when I exhale, I can hear a wheezing, whistling sound. I seem to have picked up a cold this week and I have a very productive cough, this is making the wheezing worse. No history of asthma, does this sound like it could be asthma? I'm so tired of feeling sick and run down. I dread to think what the winter bugs will be like.

My GP is refusing to do any further tests and I feel that my issues just won't go away no matter what I try.

My dh has been going through similar for a few months now. A chest x ray and ecg have been fine and his chest sounds clear. They've given him inhalers but they aren't helping much. They have said it could be one of three things:
Asthma
COPD
Long Covid.
Have you and a chest xray and all the other tests x
