Fused wrist surgery

Has anyone had this? Had your wrist bones fused together following an injury?

What was your recovery like? Long term impact?

Bump, because I'm worried about what's coming down the line.

I haven't had a fusion yet, but that will be my next surgery if things keep progressing so I know a bit about it. I have kienbock's disease, and I had a Proximal Row Carpectomy which is where they remove 3 bones. A lot of people in the Facebook groups I'm on say the fusion is a much better idea than the PRC - everyone who had the fusion seems happy, but a lot of PRC surgery fails.

The pain after having the surgery was horrendous, and I needed help doing everything for the first few days. I still don't have much use of my left hand so I've changed a lot of the things I do. I only wear front fastening bras as I can't fasten them behind me. I have a cullinaire one touch can opener because it's so easy to open cans with it. I don't wear many clothes with buttons as they can be too fiddly.

Thank you for sharing. I'm more confused now as my doctor seemed to be describing both types of surgery you mentioned. He said something about removing three bones but also said they'd be fused together. So now I've no idea what I'm going in for.

How long post surgery are you?
