Lymph node armpit

Can someone please help to calm my mind!
I have a 1cm, movable, lymph node under my right armpit. When it was discovered, GP did a breast exam and couldn't feel any lumps, but for peace of mind, sent me for a breast ultrasound which was clear. Since then, I'm still worried and I'm pushing for a biopsy, although Dr doesn't seem too concerned.

The lump has now been there for a couple of years, no change I'm size but it's not going.

I guess my question is, does anyone have any distinct lymph nodes they can feel under their armpit? I can't feel anything under my other armpit. I should mention that I'm slim and 41, no health issues.

This lymph node is easy to feel due to its size and 1cm feel really big to me, I thought we were meant to feel these.

Can lymph nodes armpits rise and never go away?

Sorry, meant to say I thought we were not meant to feel these. I'm so worried I can't get this out of my mind

I have 3 distinct lymph nodes, one in my neck, one behind my ear and one in my arm pit! All 3 have been checked numerous times over the last 7 years, and I've just been told to monitor the size of them and go back if they grow in size or cause any other problems.
I was told they can swell due to fighting an infection and sometimes they just don't go back down!
Push for a biopsy if it makes you feel better though, it's your body and your health and you have every right to get these things tested further - but also, try not to worry yourself too much ☺️

@autumngirlxo thanks, can I ask how big the one feels under your armpit?

Do you suffer with health anxiety? Not wanting to make light of your fears but you've had an ultrasound and your doctor is not concerned and it's been there years so I'd say it's time to put this out of your mind now and leave it alone.

@autumngirlxo thanks, can I ask how big the one feels under your armpit?

It's around 1-1.5cm, the one in my neck is 2cm and behind my ear 0.75cm x

Sometimes lymph nodes just stay after an infection.

When I was at medical school one of the consultants used to get use practice examination by feeling her lymph node in her neck. She'd had it for years.

@AllyJames12 I have something similar and have my referral at the breast clinic on Thursday. Can I ask what your lymph node felt like? My is firm, oval and movable but it does seem to feel hard if I touch it in certain ways, I’m going out my mind with worry x

AllyJames12 · 07/01/2025 10:34

@Jellybean1994 mine is Still there, there's been no change, the GP doesn't seem concerned but I always worry. Tbh mine feels just like yours.
Sorry you're going through this. How big does yours feel and have you had it for long? Please let us know how you get on x

@AllyJames12 thank you for coming back to me! I would say maybe the size of a baked bean. I noticed it around 2 weeks ago, but it may have been there longer. I actually have one the other side as well but that is much smaller, it’s been checked and was fine really hoping this is the same. Feel like I’m just in limbo at the moment!

What did the ultrasound come back as when you had yours? X

AllyJames12 · 09/01/2025 13:13

@Jellybean1994 My ultrasound was normal but I still worry about Lymphoma as the node hasn't gone down.
Please let us know how you get on x

@AllyJames12 Hi Ally, had my ultrasound today and all was well normal lymph node also! I also have one on my Jaw and worried about lymphoma (had a scan also which come back normal). I also had a blood test which was normal, might be worth pushing for that if you are still worried x
