Smear test results - is 2 weeks too quick?

As a few people on here know, I have been having various tests re gynae concerns. Smear test result came through the post today. Normal, which is fab news. However, I was told it would take 6 - 8 weeks to get results. I know some of that is due to volume of tests, but I thought that a significant amount of time was needed for the test to actually develop? Not complaining at all, just wondering how it could have come back so quickly?

Just had mine back in about two weeks.
Nurse said that they used to take about a month, but the lab were getting them back really quickly at the moment.

mine was 2 weeks too

I had one in the Easter holidays, and was told the results would be 3 weeks, but they came in about 2.

i had mine in 2 weeks as well
