New hearing aids

I had hearing aids fitted yesterday and all good. I got home and downloaded the app and set it all up and connected via Bluetooth as recommended. I now have a “hissing” sound in both ears. Does anyone have any help? I have contacted the company who I had the aids fitted with, but am waiting for a response. Thought I would try on here to see if anyone could share their wisdom.

apologies for the typo in the subject line - it won’t let me change it.

I've not had them but I've helped a couple of relatives who have. Are they the NHS ones? We've just had hissing with those. The first thing they'll say though is "have you tried switching them and the phone off and on again" Wink

I was well invested in how to heat my home in a more efficient way 🤣

Does this help?

I've reported and asked them to change to hearing for you!

I was also interested in a heating aid to improve my general health!

However re hearing aids. Whistling can mean they aren't fitting properly alongside issues with the tech. Hopefully you'll get a response and solution soon.

They got back to me and think it’s a faulty pair of aids, that didn’t present as an issue until I connected the Bluetooth - which I volunteered to do at home. So have to go tomorrow to get another pair. Will definitely be sorting out the Bluetooth there and then 😅

Hope it gets sorted tomorrow Wink

Hi, we have a long running thread called For Those of us who are Deaf or Hard of Heart part 2. I'm glad that your issue is being sorted out, but I thought you might like to join us in this very supportive thread.

Thank you so much! How do I find the group - I’ve typed it in the search bar and can’t find anything. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong - but can’t see where else to look up anything.

I went back yesterday and collected a new set of hearing aids, sounded all ok in the shop when I connected them up. They said to go back if any issues. The shop is in a big shopping centre, so very noisy - even in the car park. So thought all was ok, as soon as I got home and was quiet - it’s all I can hear again. So for the movement I’ve just taken them out!

Bluetooth hearing aids? That's pretty cool! What does the Bluetooth do?

They essentially act as in ear headphones. Can listen to music on them, phone calls come through them. It’s pretty good! These are NHS ones too - there’s an app too so you can change settings and that.

Have fixed up a nonagenarian DA with a pair and a donated old IPhone who is now happily FaceTiming and listening to music Wink
