Noone can really answer here

It could be an infection or something like ibs or something more serious

The doctors will be able to help him

naichick · 17/10/2024 19:23

The stool sample result will tell you more than people on the internet.
Even a Dr can’t tell you what it is looking at poo down the toilet!!

Safa2 · 17/10/2024 19:25

Yeah I know was just looking for advice if anyone has experienced this that’s all

Can be infection, start of ibs/ ibd or something else drs is best port of call sooner rather than later.

Preppingpenguin · 17/10/2024 19:31

Nobody can really help you other than a doctor. It could be anything from piles to cancer. Do the sample and hopefully it's nothing serious

Coconutter24 · 17/10/2024 19:35

Has he been constipated?

AutumnLeaves24 · 17/10/2024 19:37

I'm sorry, I can't help. I just wanted to say I hope it's nothing serious xx

I had similar a year or so back. Got referred for an urgent colonoscopy. Found a bit of inflammation which could have been caused by an infection or possibly diverticula. Nothing sinister found and cleared up of its own accord after 6 weeks and hasn't happened again.

DGPP · 17/10/2024 20:05

The stool test could help pick up infection but the fit test for bowel cancer isn’t always accurate. I would wait for the results of the test and go back to the GP for advice. Ask about the two week referral for a colonoscopy and if that’s appropriate (and if they say no ask why not). Don’t be afraid to go back.
I’m 48 and had a colonoscopy for ongoing loose stools and some blood. It was all clear, no cancer. Sometimes you can have these symptoms and it’s nothing so try not to panic. But don’t be afraid to go back to GP either if symptoms carry on

Mucus and blood could be an indication of ulcerative colitis or Crohns. You could ask the dr to do a blood test, specifically looking at his inflammation levels. This would give an indication as to whether it’s an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Has he had any other symptoms?

I have ibs and if I suffer with constipation I sometimes find mucus. I’m not saying it is that but it could be something to look into

Safa2 · 17/10/2024 20:41

Yes I hope it’s nothing.. thank you for all your lovely replies ladies♥️ I will keep u all updated .. does anyone know how long these stool samples take to come back

I have mucus and blood in my stools when I’m having a flare of my ulcerative colitis. It’s bloody awful and knackers me , hopefully you get answers soon as he definitely needs medication to calm it.

I sometimes get the mucus after having a very bad infection. I'm recovered a year but I get the mucus sometimes. Hope you get the results back quickly. Fingers crossed it's not serious 💐

Hoglet70 · 18/10/2024 06:06

Another IBS sufferer who gets mucus. It's quite common with inflammatory bowel things. Crossing everything for you that DH just has something minor.

Safa2 · 19/10/2024 07:02

I’ve had this. Followed on from being constipated.

did a stool test and came back FIT positive. Was put on a 2 week pathway for a colonoscopy.
all was clear but turned out to be piles.

later had them banded
