B12 deficiency

How do they know if B12 deficiency is caused by an autoimmune disease or diet?

I've shown at deficient on a blood test, which they have now tested again 6 weeks later (awaiting results).

I'm vegetarian but I also have some autoimmune diseases, so how will they know which type I've got? I'm wondering if I should try to boost it by vitamins now I've had the test again, or whether this is pointless.

They do a blood test that shows if it’s an absorption issue or diet issue. An intrinsic factor blood test.

Thank you..it said B12 retest on the form so hopefully they've done this type. I'll ask when they contact me with the results 😊
