Strange 'rash' on 13 year old

dishesandhands · 15/10/2024 16:20

Awaiting an appointment back from the gp after submitting a form. But my 13 year has these marks on her including one on her bum.
At first I assumed it was fake tan and a prank but this is them.
She currently has a cold at the mo so could it be viral?

I have never seen anything like that before as a rash, only really stains from jewellery.
Hope you find out what it is.

minipie · 15/10/2024 16:27

I would also assume a reaction to jewellery or temporary tattoos

steppemum · 15/10/2024 16:37

100% looks like something is rubbing off on her skin/reaction to jewellry.

steppemum · 15/10/2024 16:47

Sorry if this is too obvious, but have you tried to wash it off with a make-up cleaner or somethign stronger than soap? or even with soap!

dishesandhands · 15/10/2024 16:54

She doesn't wear any jewellery or no temp tattoos.
Will try cleaning it now with some micellar water or the like! As she has been showering!

She's already tried the micellar water and other means and nothing. Most bizarre!

Hmm has she hd any new socks recently, possibly a reaction to something in those?? Assuming pics are of her ankles

minipie · 15/10/2024 17:06

There is something called hemosiderin staining that causes brown stains especially on ankles and feet. Seems very unlikely here as it’s usually over 50s with other health issues. But worth looking up just in case anything clicks, she would have other symptoms too.

dishesandhands · 15/10/2024 17:55

@minipie Thankyou. It does look similar or well the same. She suffers from really awful nosebleeds and we are awaiting an ent appointment. They did mention that she would be lower in iron than higher due to how severe the nosebleeds are. No bloods have been done yet though.

hmm. It might be worth asking for a referral to vascular to hopefully rule out any issues that might be causing both nosebleeds and the brown patches.

minipie · 15/10/2024 20:41

Caveat: I am not medical, at all!

JulietSierra · 15/10/2024 21:10

It looks so like fake tan. I really hope she is playing a prank and that it’s nothing worrying.

TheSpottedZebra · 15/10/2024 23:56

It's such a defined shape that it looks more like dye transfer, or a reaction to something against her skin.

The 3rd pic -what is that shape? The tongue of new shoes or trainers?

nocoolnamesleft · 16/10/2024 00:02

The incredibly clear edges really make this look artificial, rather than a rash.

Conqueeftador · 16/10/2024 06:48

Have you tried wiping it off with alcohol wipes/gel? It does look a lot like dye transfer.

Is there any change to the skin that’s coloured, ie is it thickened or rough?

She hasn't had any new socks trainers etc

I haven't got any but I've just brought baby oil to try on the recommendation of someone else. So will physically try myself!

If you have any gin or vodka that would work too. Alcohol is amazing for removing stubborn marker pen/dyes/inks (I speak as someone whose idiot nephew penned on his face with permanent marker many moons ago. Half the gin I scrubbed his face with, half the gin I drank to keep me from losing it😬😂).

minipie · 16/10/2024 20:59

Yes the defined ring around her ankle definitely looks much more like a surface mark from something. Definitely no temporary tattoos or similar??

TheSpottedZebra · 18/10/2024 16:20

@dishesandhands did you figure out what this was?
