i am so desperate to find some info on what ever it is I am dealing with!

basically I think it’s called ‘phantom smells’
it smells like..: burning plastic I think! I don’t even know anymore. It’s been around a week, but it’s making my eyes burn, and now I feel like I can taste it.
apart from a bad headache on Friday evening I haven’t been poorly but it’s still there!🥹
it’s absolutely doing me in! I want to rip my nose off!
how do I get rid of it?😥😥😥

You need to tell your GP

I agree with this. Please go to GP

Oh god I suffer terribly with health anxiety and now I’m worried 😥

Sounds like Covid. I'd test for that first rather than panic about anything sinister.

Classic covid symptom - banging headache and phantosmia.

Weverunoutofteabags · 14/10/2024 17:13

Phantosmia, it can be caused by stress, head trauma or neurological conditions.

Definitely see your GP about it just in case

I’ve just taken a test, it’s negative. No cough or cold symptoms.

I feel like this isn’t the first time I’ve had it but this time it’s really grating on me! It’s all I can smell!
is there anything I can try to get rid of it?

No, phabrosnua isn't something you cure, it passes.

It's also common with migraine (I often smell cigarette smoke for days and days), so if you had a massive headache the other day, it could still be from that if it's migraine.

I had the smell before the ‘headache/migraine’
it made me really poorly! The headache? Came on throughout the day but got progressively worse! All inside my body felt hot but I was shivering, didn’t have a temperature though.
I woke up the next morning fine, but the smell is so strong, it will not go away I will make an appointment to see the GP tomorrow but this smell is all I can focus on it’s so bad 😥

Yeah, sounds like some of my migraines - I'm cooking from the inside out, but shivering.

See the GP, but don't panic!

Thankyou! I will call the GP at 8am!
I’m hoping it’s nothing because they was my symptoms on Friday with my headache, it just got progressively worse.
I was honestly hit from the inside out but shivering!

I couldn’t bare my husband to touch me I felt sick too! I managed to finally fall asleep and the next day (Saturday) I felt better but not really much energy and I had a nap.
I’ve been fine since, just the smell will not go away😥!
