Anyone have any tips for either clearing or easing the symptoms of tonsillitis please?
Started yesterday and I feel rough as anything. Temperature keeps spiking up. My big problem is my work was taken over yesterday, there is no way I can call in sick Monday on what is my first day under my new bosses Sad

I tried to manage mine myself but after three days I was in tears in pain , throat almost closed over , tonsils full of pus. Went to the doctors and got antibiotics and because I had left it , it took another three days for the antibiotics to take effect.
So I would say try to get to the doctors if you can.
If you work from home , can you get a virtual GP appointment to get antibiotics ?

Gargle dilute hydrogen peroxide solution. You can get it off of Amazon. Won't hurt you, will oxidise bacteria and you'll feel better quickly. Do it every 3 hours. Don't swallow it.

Is that not bleach ?

I find gargling with corsodyl and/or soluble aspirin helps, also otc pain relief every four hours. If your tonsils are very swollen and have white spots on them then you most probably need antibiotics. Pharmacists can prescribe these now, although you have to pay for a private prescription. Might be worth it though if you cant get to a doctor.

Not sure how I feel about the hydrogen peroxide, I'm an ex hairdresser!
I felt worse than ever this morning, I rang 111 who made me an appointment for OOH GP this afternoon. I ended up popping to the chemist after as needed some more paracetamol and ibuprofen and decided to see the pharmacist who confirmed tonsillitis, one side is pussing and walked away with a 5 day course of antibiotics. I've rang 111 to cancel the OOH appointment. I cannot speak highly enough of 111 or the pharmacist, I was fully prepared to spend the day sat at the walk in centre.

It's not hairdressing hydrogen peroxide it's safe, it's in peroxyl mouthwash, just a cheaper way of doing it and slightly stronger. Honestly we use it for all sorts of infected body bits and bobs.
