DC9 has an erupting cyst on his gum, dentist this morn recommended a salt rinse daily for a few days as he cleaned around the area.

I need it in a bottle that I can have delivered from Amazon ideally, as DC is now at his dads until Friday and needs to be able to do this independently (his dad won't support making a salt rinse up and administering).
When I look on Amazon I can't see anything which is purely saline water, am I missing something?

Can't you just mix salt and water? I've just had my wisdom tooth out and that's what I was advised.

His dad won't do this for him, so I'd like to buy my son something that he can just use premade easily

Why can't you just send him with a bottle of premade salt water?

Mossstitch · 08/10/2024 19:37

I'm horrified that a man is allowed contact if he won't do that for his son but i am sure you have no choice.🥺............can you not just talk your son through making it himself whilst he's on the phone to you, I'm sure my boys at 9 would have managed that💐

toffeedonut · 08/10/2024 20:06

Dentist here. Agree re making up some premixed salt and water in plastic bottles

Don’t bother with Amazon. Mix together (no set amount but roughly a large cupful of warm water to tablespoon of salt). Swish round mouth after meals or 2 x day. Pop in a plastic water bottle and label it.

Ps. I’m sorry you and your son have to deal with a Dad that won’t support this basic request.

Pps. You don’t really need to do anything for an eruption cyst. It will either erupt or it won’t and saline isn’t going to make any difference (but I understand the dentist wanting to give some basic advice to try)

He's nine, I'm pretty sure he can handle putting salt in water.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 08/10/2024 20:20

His Dad probably shouldn’t have contact with his child if he won’t follow medical advice when he’s got him
