Not usually one to post for medical advice but wandering if anyone has experienced the same as me.
32 year old female, on sertraline for the last 2 years for anxiety and depression, suffered with anxiety since a child but more recently depression. recently put on statins due to family history of early heart attacks as a preventative as lipoprotein A is higher than normal. My blood pressure is okay.
When I was pregnant with my daughter aged 23, I was having constant palpitations for weeks. I went for a heart scan and a 7 day ecg monitor and it come back perfectly healthy and no issues. Otherwise healthy adult I think.
for as long as I remember perhaps the last 20 years since I was teen. I’ve had random episodes, maybe once or twice a year where I get an episode of what I can explain as a rapid heart rate episode, it often goes alongside a particularly anxious spell but not always… it can be random. My heart starts beating really fast, if I’ve had my Fitbit on it’s gone up to 170 in seconds, my eyes blur, my chest hurts slightly and I feel sick/stomach aches and often head pounds. I have to sit down and wait for it to pass which can sometimes take longer than others.
I’ve mentioned them to the doctors and they have agreed panic attacks. But I don’t hyperventilate like you’d expect in a panic attack.
it’s been happening for 20 years and I’m still alive. I find sometimes it’s linked to when I’m anxious but feeling a bit manic and restless for example when I’m fretting about cleaning the house not knowing where to start.
has anyone had anything like this? Could it be something more sinister or perhaps some kind of adrenaline attack?
