Hair falling out

Hi, I turned 40 this year, I'm generally healthy, have 2 kids and a fulltime job, my diet could be better but generally OK, my hair falls out alot in the shower, no patches on my head but it's definitely looking thin, bit scared it's all going to come out, any tips or possible causes.

I would guess something hormone related. This happened to me around pregnancy, when I had a large ovarian cyst, and during perimenopause. It did resolve. I don’t think it was noticeable to anyone else.

By resolve do you mean your hair went back to normal?

I think so. I used to get handfuls of it coming out when I washed it but that stopped happening. It doesn’t look thin and just looks like normal hair, I think!

Ferritin levels could be low?

I lost a lot of hair when I went through an incredibly traumatic event, it recovered but took a couple of years.

My gp said mine was due to dry scalp, a symptom of peri menopause. The roots had nothing to grip into because the skin was flaking off.

I lost two thirds of my hair. It's all over so no patches but I still feel it was horrific. I got a shampoo on prescription to help. It did seem to. I've never gotten it back. My hair remains thin.

I lost a lot when I had flu and Covid within 6 months. I also had a large ovarian cyst so could've been hormonal. It's stopped now thankfully, took ages though.

Hi, thanks, what's Ferritin?

Hi, thanks, what's Ferritin?

It's a protein which stores Iron. My blood tests showed a very low Ferritin number and my hair was/is falling out. Are you also feeling tired?

Stress?
