Sprained ankle- torn ligaments

Hello, 2 weeks ago today I was in the garden on the floor crossed legged and got up and heard a loud pop from my ankle. The pain was bad and I couldn’t bear weight on it. I went to a&e who x-rayed it and said no fracture, it was a grade 2 or 3 sprain. I rested, iced and elevated it for 72 hours. I have been doing the exercises provided since the day it happened. I was told to walk on it as soon as I can. However ever time I try to weight bear I get a popping sensation and pain surges through my ankle. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to make it heal faster? It is making me very depressed. I will be calling the gp on Monday but wondered if anyone has any advice until then? Thank you x

Sympathies. That level of pain sounds worrying and the popping noise. I have done my ankles loads of times and only once heard a snap which was the ligament going.

I would seek extra advice, keep on with the RICE, and for the pain I would alternate ibuprofen with paracetamol unless you can't take these.

Generally after a fortnight I normally see an improvement. You may need it re x rayed

@Words thank you for the reply. I don’t have any pain in the ankle at all unless I knock it when I’m asleep, bend it to far or when I try to bear weight. I can do the exercises pain free. I will ask the doctor to refer me for another xray to get it checked again. If the ligament is completely torn would I be able to walk pain free by now? Thanks x
