Unexplained tiredness that went away

I know it's a bit wierd to be posting about an issue that disappeared, but I was extremely tired from about March to August.

Like, needing an afternoon nap tired. After every meal I would often feel like sleeping. Bone tired.

I had my bloods done and they were fecking normal.

I started an anti depressant on a low dose around March but was tired before that. My diet had been shit from about November and I wasn't exercising much. This went on all summer.

I then went on a diet and ate a lot healthier. In about 2 weeks the tiredness was gone and it hasn't come back.

I'm just baffled how 2 weeks of eating well fixed it. Has anyone else experienced similar?

What was the diet? If it was one that induced ketosis, it can do something to the brain which is beneficial (I'm not medical!).

It also might be a complete coincidence and you just 'recovered' from whatever was making you tired!

If you're fuelling your body with the right nutrients then it can function better so yes I think eating well will have helped.

PoachesPeaches · 01/10/2024 07:37

@CupOfSoup it definitely didn't induce ketosis. I was in a deficit of about 400 calories but ate a lot more veggies and made sure it was balanced. It was balanced macros about 40% carb and the rest split between protein and fat.

During the two weeks I also went to the gym twice a week.

I didn't enjoy the low calories hence why I stopped but I've kept the nutrient balance.

It's just amazing how 2 weeks can make a difference. It wasn't a fad diet or anything, just clean Mediterranean style, lots of beans meat and fish.

Ooh I think I maybe also stopped caring so much about what was making me stressed. Broke the cortisol cycle. Stopped people pleasing. Booked a trip to look forward to etc.

Yeah unfortunately all those people who tell us that improving your diet, getting some exercise, getting enough rest etc will help you have more energy are right Grin It’s boring and difficult but it’s true! And I wouldn’t underestimate the power of doing fun things and socialising with nice people and having stuff to look forward to.

Glad you’re feeling better!

Right, so you've given it loads of thought, know what changed and aren't so baffled after all?

Glad you got to the bottom of it 🤣

What were you eating when you were fatigued?

What were you eating when you were fatigued?

Typically, porridge, eggs on toast, then takeaway panini, crisps, large chocolate cookie, spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread, some fruit every couple of days.

Not much veggies in sight.

Perhaps you just had a virus?

Spotthe · 01/10/2024 21:31

This is so good to read poaches! I’ve got into a crap diet, no excersis habit at the moment and I’m now too tired to bother making salads etc.
you are an inspiration!

I don't feel like one! And it'll probably never work for me again so I'd better stick with the healthier habits!

Go girl! I actually had a tomato with dinner - you’ve inspired me!
