Graphic photo included! Heavier period than normal, largish clots

Hi basically as said in my title, I have my period atm and it is a lot heavier than normal. I was sat on the toilet with it dripping out and I have been passing quite big clots. This isn't typical for me, no chance I'm pregnant.
I have been under a lot of stress can that cause this to happen? Are these size clots okay?

Similar happened to me recently, it really freaked me out. Not sure if it's connected but I've also been going through a really stressful time lately. Hopefully someone can be along soon with advice.

How old are you? I remember passing these in my late 30's. I went through an early menopause in early 40's, so my periods went haywire for a few years before.

Same.

@BiscottiToffee I'm only in my mid 20's 😭😭. Wondering if it could be something hormonal as I've also been coming out in spots recently and I've never had them even as a teenager.

Going through a pad an hour means you should be seeking medical help. That size colt it’self wouldn’t worry me. But the total amount of blood is more important.

Do you feel light headed or dizzy?

CherryBerry99 · 26/09/2024 22:17

@Notdeckingthehalls I don't feel particularly lightheaded or dizzy, however I do have a headache and feel a bit nauseous and tired but like I said earlier I'm very stressed atm so that could be the cause of those symptoms

My periods have always been horrendous, really heavy, going through a pad almost hourly, can't use tampons at all and I also pass really big clots. I have always been fobbed off at the drs but I went 2 weeks ago because I'm out of breath all the time so Dr ordered blood tests.

My iron levels are so low that if they haven't increased now I'm on iron tablets and having high iron foods then I will have to have a transfusion. Dr agreed my periods are likely causing my issues and we made a plan. And my other symptoms such as breathlessness can be caused by low iron levels.

Dizziness and headache can also be attributed to low iron. Might be worth seeing if you can get blood tests done. My next lot are to check my hormones and my epilepsy medication levels. I'm 38 and I'm pretty sure I'm premenopausal, so that could also be impacting on my symptoms.

I went through something similar in my late 20s/early 30s. I got blood tests done and I was diagnosed as hypothyroid and was prescribed Eltroxin. I became pregnant not too long after that and my periods have been normal ever since.

It could be fibroids? Might be worth speaking to your Dr and mentioning sudden heavy periods and clots.
