can it be underwired?

Do i have to take it off?

Do the sticky things go under or above breasts?

What if I am of voluptuous proportions?

This is at GP surgery not hospital

Can I wear a Tshirt over the top of the stickers once they have been put in place?

DS has had loads of ECGs but obviously not a prob for him

Thanks

I've been having lots of ecgs recently and they have always wanted me to take everything to the waist off.
I had to have a myoview scan last week which involves an ecg whilst running on a treadmill and was very worried that they would expect me to do it bare breasted but I wore a very stretchy crop top instead of a bra and whilst they made me take it off to put the sticky pads on, they let me put it back on for the running bit.

Wine - I have a friend who did that exercise test and she wasn't allowed to wear anything on her top. I was really annoyed on her behalf because I know that's not necessary.

belgo · 21/04/2008 15:30

glad you were allowed to wear a top!

Winetimeisfinetime · 21/04/2008 15:38

That's so humiliating and as you say unneccessary.
I was really worried that might happen to me. As it was I was in a room, stripped to the waist, alone with a male nurse who was flapping my norks about to first of all sand paper them { which was quite painful ] to get a better contact for the sticky pads and then second flapping about ensued to stick the pads on.

The radioactive injection that they gave me whilst I was running on the treadmill was a breeze by comparison !

Kanga - this was at the hospital and all my ecgs at the gps have been lacking in this sort of stress !

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2008 16:23

blimey what do you mean sand paper them?

What if they get sweaty

OP posts:
belgo · 21/04/2008 16:31

if they get sweaty then the electrodes won't stick - but this is easily solved by a quick wipe with a cloth with a cleaning fluid on it.

belgo · 21/04/2008 16:31

Never seen sandpapering though!

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2008 16:38

oke doke

It was definitely something like sandpaper - it was very painful and I still, 4 days later, have grazes all over my upper body from it. Also very stingy when he wiped me over with alchol after the sandpapering. I definitely wasn't sweaty though.

Don't worry, Kanga as it obviously doesn't seem to be standard practice.

Starting to wonder now why I had to have it done, especially as it was just me and a male nurse in the room. Perhaps he just felt my norks needed a bit of buffing up to bring out their full glory !

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2008 17:22

where was he sandpapering?

underneath your breasts or ontop?

coppertop · 21/04/2008 18:01

Mine was at the hospital and definitely no sandpaper here.

Underneath and on top Kanga.

Hmmm... I seem to be the only one who has had the sand paper treatment then. Don't worry, I'm sure they won't do it at your ecg Kanga.

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2008 18:52

You guys are soooooooooo deffo brill

When I have had an ECG I have always had to strip from waist up.

Dottydot · 21/04/2008 21:10

ooh - I had the sandpaper treatment as well! All very odd and yes, fairly embarrassing having to shift my norks here there and everywhere.

Dottydot · 21/04/2008 21:10

It's something rough they rub on the skin to make sure the stuff sticks to you. Feels like sandpaper!

Blimey I hope i don't have the sandpaper treatment

sounds horrible

When DS has ECGs he has a sticker on each ankle but he keeps his trousers on thye just put the stickers on by lifting them up at the ankle

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 23/04/2008 18:21

Well guys I am home again

yes I did have to strip down to my waist and move my trousers waistband down to expose my hips {apparently instead of ankles}

I asked if I could keep my Tshirt on but she said no cos of all the stickers {and my bra had to come off}

She was very sweet about it and introduced herself and pulled a curtain around the bed thingy so even if someone had opened the door they wouldn't see me {she did change the door sign to ENGAGED}

3 went under my left breast but she asked if I wanted to move it and so I lifted it up while she put the stickers there and then the leads

I am soooooooo grateful to you all for making me feel better and more confident about going

You are all deffo brill

Now I just wait to see what it and all the blood tests show up {she said the result will go elctronically on my records} and then the print out she will give to GP.

Thanks guys
