Low iron normal haemoglobin

Hello all,

I was hoping someone might have some answers.
A couple of weeks ago I had a blood test which showed high ferritin, I had another blood test yesterday and ferritin had returned to normal but I now have low iron despite normal haemaglobin so not anaemic. Dr wants me to do a urine test and fit test to check for blood loss 😬
Also has recommended iron supplements.
I feel ok except have been having shortness of breath for which I've had lots of different blood tests over the past few weeks and all are normal.
Can you just have low iron without being anaemic?

Yes - I had that. Every blood test showed another deficit- ferritin, b12, folate and others. The gp suspected a bleeding tumour. I was on a 2 week pathway for bladder cancer and had an ultra sound and cystoscopy.all clear, so was then on another 2 week pathway with a gastroscope and colonoscopy. I had several polyps removed and diagnosed with coeliac disease. (Blood test was clear for coeliac)

6 months later, bloods are almost normal. Latest shows a vit d deficiency so I'll take supplements for that.

Good luck. Hope you get the same great care I received Flowers

@OllyBJolly
Thankyou for replying, much appreciated.
All other blood tests are normal, I suppose I just have to wait for the results of the other tests they're going to do. I'm glad you have got sorted finally! Flowers
