Does anyone one else have the occasional day when they pee all the time but it’s not related to a uti?

Sorry for tmi but not the sort of thing I can ask at work!

Do you ever have a random day, very occasionally, where you pee a lot, and almost want to pee immediately after going and it’s NOT a uti?

This happens to me randomly, every six months or so, usually the day after I have been physically very active. The other symptom is extreme fatigue.

And it’s not because I have drink much more than usual because I have physically active days when I drink a lot and this doesn’t happen the day after ifyswim.

I thought it was linked to too much sugar but I’ve massively reduced my sugar intake and it’s still happening!

Just before my period I am more restless at night and pee a lot ! May be hormones ?!

Crymeastream564 · 19/09/2024 16:17

Thanks very much for your reply!

I’m through the menopause . It didn’t happen before though thinking about it! All of my bones ache as well along with fatigue just for one day.

Yes! Post menopausal as well. It is really odd and damn annoying. I get aches and pains that come and go too.

Ladyglittersparkleseriously · 19/09/2024 16:21

Yes, I have this just before I get a migraine, it's a good predictor for me

Sorry you suffer too Foxandbee but glad I am not the only one! It’s particularly annoying when I am trying to work.

That’s interesting. I used to get migraine but don’t any more since taking a very mild dose of beta blockers.

I have fibroids and sometimes they sit on my bladder. So i have to pee a lot and sometimes only a couple of drops when i went about 5 mins beforehand 🤬V.v. annoying especially when you're out and about. Also showing peri meno symptoms so double whammy!

mumzof4x · 20/09/2024 08:39

Yes !
It's usually after I've started to eat really healthy and my body is naturally getting rid of excess fluid .... natural diuresis
It used to happen when I bloated up pre period in younger days and they'd I'd literally just pee it out
Usually lose a few pounds and feel heaps better although only seems to happen overnight so tired !

Nevergotdivorced · 20/09/2024 08:56

After menopause it’s very common to develop a sensitive bladder.
Cut out caffeine, anything acidic like lemons/strawberries/pineapple etc.
It transformed my life!

comoatoupeira · 20/09/2024 08:59

Yes after sex that’s been a bit too rushed!

Nannyfannybanny · 20/09/2024 09:01

Yes,(many years post menopausal) as soon I ring surgery, they insist on a urine sample which is always nad. Eventually saw GP who said UTI, antibiotics (before specimen was even sent,) eventually found out I have a cystocele, and sometimes my bowel problem presses on the bladder. According to gynae consultant lack of estrogen, thinning everything.

Yes I have it sometimes, usually just before my period is due - like everything down there is irritated

Thank you for all of the replies everyone!

I’m certainly going to try this and see if it works: process of elimination (no pun intended!).

I wonder if this is it?

The timing would work!

It always seems to be after a time of cutting out sugar and exercising but I will have to monitor further.

Thanks for suggestion!

I have Atrial Fibrillation (an occasional very fast and irregular heartbeat) frequent urination is a symptom when I have an episode of it. Something to do with the heart releasing a hormone which triggers more frequent urination

OMG I have never heard of this and I have an unexplained arrhythmia! Thanks for the heads up! Will investigate!

I've just read your OP again. My Afib seems to be triggered by dehydration. Is your frequent urination the day after you exercise and don't drink much?

Cattyisbatty · 20/09/2024 17:05

Im in meno and I’ve had the odd day like this! Not for a while, but it’s like having a uti with the urge, but not the sting & then fine the next day. Must be hormonal.

Maybe? Not sure tbh.

Surely if I was dehydrated I wouldn’t pee so much?

I hadn’t thought it could happen the other way around that the body pees a lot in order to stimulate drinking.

Tbh it has the opposite effect on me as I don’t want to be back and forth to the bathroom all night.

I have the same thing! I can go for weeks with no problem at all, then I have a day or two of needing to go constantly, but no stinging or other symptoms of a UTI. Then completely back to normal next day.

Haven't noticed a link to caffeine or alcohol or other food/drink. Just seems like a random annoyance! I know there are meds you can take for overactive bladder to cut down frequency but I really don't want to go the medication route because it's such a random problem.

Exactly this! It’s v annoying on the day but not frequent enough to justify meds!

I get this sometimes after exercise and think it is related to a prolapsed bladder. Strangely if I have sex things seem to improve (maybe pushing everything back into place!). I have been using vaginal oestrogen too but not sure if it is doing anything.

Interesting. It could be caused by a physical displacement of some kind or another if I have been very active. But it doesn’t fit with the extreme fatigue and general aches and pains. Or maybe it does although I do have very active days when this doesn’t happen!

I might go and see a pelvic floor physio though just to check.
