Hi,
I’m gerting myself really worried over my recent FIT test results.
so basically it’s come back over 200.
last Friday I had a really high temp , 40 , starte. With diarrhoea high turned bloody on Sunday . Did the fit test on Monday and I could see the blood .
i am still waiting on the cultures , I had a contact with a patient with campylobacter last week ..so sort of thought it was that . ( see my recent post )
but I’m now panicking it’s cancer given the high level , apparently the higher the more likely it is .
fir contest I had bleeding and piles last year so had a clear sigmoidoscopy 10 months ago .
anybody had similar ? I think I’ll have a colonoscopy once the second test is back ( it andò had some blood streaks)
soo worried now , I’m 34 , no history in the family but it’s not reassuring me .

FIT test measures blood, the idea is that it will pick up microscopic blood which may (often doesn't) indicate bowel cancer.

If you had visible blood in your stool with a tummy upset at the time of testing, that is what the test has detected - it can't tell where the blood is coming from.

With hindsight, it may have been better to defer the test until everything had totally settled down from your tummy upset, but the leaflet doesn't mention that does it.

You'll get a letter/phone call - if you explain the circumstances, you may be offered another FIT test. Don't worry in the meantime.
