Toe nail fungus?

I've removed my nail polish and need to repaint before I go on holiday but it looks like one of my big toenails is lifting.

I did drop something on my toe a couple of weeks ago but not exactly where it seems to be lifting and it does look a bit discoloured (not unusual as I usually wear dark polish on toes).

Can anyone recommend what to do about this manky toenail please? There seems to be a myriad of treatments with very differing reviews.

Also, rather than paint them can anyone recommend any pedicure wraps that might stay on for a week?

It looks a bit yellow but that's not unusual as my toe nails are a bit stained from polish Blush.

It looks like it's lifting from the top and side too.

I can't work out how to send a pic via the app @Educatingjoepublicnailsandbeauty and I'm too embarrassed to post it on here.

This stuff was absolutely amazing. Can't fault it.

I appreciate your help @Educatingjoepublicnailsandbeauty. I'll be brave and post a pic! I did drop something on it a couple of weeks ago but it was lower down than where it's lifting - you can still see a dark mark on the cuticle.

Is that an Amazon purchase @timetodecide2345 ? How quickly did it work?

I rarely wear closed toe shoes - permanent Birkenstock wearer to keep plantar fasciitis away. And no, I don't run at all. I'm in crutches at the moment so couldn't run even if I wanted to!

It's only happened since I dropped something on it but I didn't see it until yesterday as I had nail polish on.

I'll slather it with vaporub before bed, thank you.

Exactly the same has happened to me!! Literally just took my polish off to redo and looks just the same as yours. Never had it before now.

Goatblu · 16/09/2024 21:51

Are you going to repaint yours or treat it in case it's fungal @EveryOtherNameTaken? I'm going away in a couple of weeks and I'll have to disguise it somehow.

I just painted them as I was specifically doing so for an event where I wore sandals.

Looking at the tips above though I will look through and try them as it's winter and plenty of time for it/them to work while covered.

Just paint them while you're away then start after.

I have this although my nail has since turned almost black, I've had it checked out and a nail clipping confirmed it was nail fungus. Unfortunately mine started after nail trauma from running years ago, and then more recently I dropped something on it. It fell off and another nail has grown out, but that looks ready to fall off also! I'll try the vapourub too

Goatblu · 17/09/2024 13:12

Not sure what happened to the poster from earlier in the thread. Maybe I was conversing with a bot.

Anyway, I've shown the pharmacist this morning and he thinks it looks more like trauma than fungus so to watch for any soreness or infection.

I'm not totally convinced as my nail was a bit crumbly when I clipped it so I think I'll carry on with the vaporub.

What advice did the deleted poster give? Very strange that their posts were deleted!

They said they were a nail tech and asked a few questions then said it did look like trauma but that using vaporub was ok Hmm.

There was nothing weird about the interaction so I can only presume that it wasn't a real poster.

Have you had any improvements with the vapour rub OP? Or any other recommendations?

Goatblu · 15/12/2024 22:27

It's almost grown out now @ArgosOrArgoose so I think it was more likely trauma to the nail. I used the vaporub at night for a couple of weeks but didn't see much change.
