Anbesol is good fornumbing and taking the pain away while your eating.

I find rinsing with salt in some luke warm water works quite well.

Corlan tablets, which you can get over the counter for about £4. Probably not safe during pregnancy though

Otherwise, salt water rinses? Ouch!

Have you been telling lies Disenchanted? My mum always says its a sign of telling lies if you get one on the end of your tongue

Disenchanted · 20/04/2008 13:24

Lies...hmmm, not that I can think of

I feel like shite, I just got over having my tooth out, had an absess and infection ... now this.

My mouth is constantly sore

Ill go see the pharmasist tomorrow!

Thanks x

bongela cool is fab it does burn when you first apply it tho

noddyholder · 20/04/2008 13:43

oragel

IceCube · 20/04/2008 14:59

Seriously salty water is the best thing to clear it up, won't stop it hurting tho.

Just have a tub of salt and a glass in the bathroom and rinse your mouth out as often as you can be bothered. Will also stop any new ones in their tracks.

Adcortyl in orabase is very good - my dentist recommended it when I had terrible ulcers due to a brace that was rubbing.

It really clears them up fast.

hobbity · 20/04/2008 20:19

Dab neat TCP on the ulcer if you can bear to touch it or gargel with it, always seems to work for me.

southeastastra · 20/04/2008 20:20

ouch neat salt

waycat · 21/04/2008 06:31

Agree with hobbity.

I've been plagued with mouth ulcers ever since I was a child and have always found neat TCP to be the most effective treatment.

jalopy · 21/04/2008 08:13

Another one for Adcortyl in orabase. Very quick.

Make a mouthwash with soluble aspirin - a pharmacist recommended that to me once.

Steer clear of the salt & vinegar crisps!

I still have this its just not healing at all, have tried bongela and anbesol, can't have anything with steroids in because of pg and the pharmasist said its a shame as something like that would clear it right up, , yea thanks for that!

Salt. It really hurts, but is the most effective solution I've found. Don't bother with a salt/water mix, just salt straight on to it.
